Meet Jackelyn Bickell:
Jackelyn is a multidisciplinary artist with a passion for three dimensional mixed media design. She is motivated by a strong attention to the unique details and compositions of the world around her. Her focus is in exploring the modern tapestry through means of natural pigments and printing, free movement, and sculptural form. She incorporates textiles, dyes, ceramics, and woodwork in her workflow.
Jackelyn’s Modern Tapestries are each one of a kind pieces that create an impression of sophistication and unrestricted movement. Her tapestries are inspired by noticing moments in nature when movement, light, and shadows all align. They are an exploration of harnessing these observations and bringing them into a home or space as an encouragement to stop and observe.
Using natural dye stuffs such as botanicals, plant matter, minerals, non-toxic metals and food waste, Jackelyn considers her pieces to quite literally be alive through these sustainable dying methods and how each piece of art has the ability to move freely.
